Pet insurance for dogs

One of the most important things we can do for both our animals and our own pocket is to ensure that we have PET insurance. Not only does it take away the dilemma of "can I afford to pay for this treatment" or "how I wish to afford to pay ..." it also helps the most unexpected situations occur.

Six years ago I had a very unexpected situation arise. My then, 12 month old cat, much to my horror, played her usual favourite game of tightrope walking along the length of the handrail extensions on top of the rail in the Hall.Below her was a flight stairs and wooden flooring. She began taking along the banister, its tail swaying from side to side to closely keep its balance sheet, I knew if I made a sudden noise or tried to Grab for her she would probably jump in surprise, so I very carefully walked calmly awaits chance against her to get her and get her safe from the banister.

She suddenly slipped and went onto the hand rail danger at the bottom and returned onto wood step! horrified, I ran down the stairs to see her, and she began hopping on three legs to make her escape out the back door (cats in particular, and even dogs instinctively run away if they are injured) I managed to get hold of her and instantly knew she had broken his leg, (in fact, it was broken in two places) so that after an emergency vet visits, x-rays, painkillers, 24-hour hospital, bolts to keep her legs in place, 6 weeks in plaster and a few more veterinarian follow-up appointments, my beautiful girl was fortunately back to full health and its ben fixed and I got a Bill to 800!

Now it was six years ago, can you imagine the price which would be charged now, you could probably double that!

The reason I have told this story is to highlight the very important that the insurance for your dog is an absolute must, and priority. I cannot imagine how I would have found the money is not, I had my cat insurance, I am grateful that I had it. In years with my dogs, I have had a couple of times where I have had to rely on my insurance takes care of the unexpected costs.I also never Let any puppies, I have bred go away from to the new home without insurance, after all you would drive your car without insurance or buy a new house without it so why risk your dogs health by not having to Pet Insurance?!

Because I have multiple dogs is very aware of how much money to pay for a good quality PET insurance. I have seen in many, many types of insurance are offered on the high street and also through veterinarians, etc. and I have to say how very confusing it can be if you are not quite sure what to look for.Generally, they all cover pretty the same standard coverage, but the most important thing for me is the required fees.A lot of companies allow, for example, 2500 amount per year, sounds good in theory, but if you read the fine print it says-"time coverage is limited to 12 months after the event".

In simple terms, this means that if your dog is developing an ongoing illness/problem so that they are only covered for 12 months, after that you are at your own expense wise! the short term, this is an option for people who want to save a little and lower premiums, but if you need long-term care ensures you read the small print.
